Please mark your calendars to attend our official United Way campaign kick-off on (DATE AND TIME). With your support, we can foster an equitable, engaged, and empowered community – one that is united around providing every central Iowan the support and resources they need to thrive.

Today, central Iowans struggle to make it day to day and many families are one flat tire or one emergency room visit away from crisis. United Way of Central Iowa is uniquely structured to bring together every corner of our community – along with people like you and me – to address tough issues, create initiatives, invest in proven programs, advocate for solutions, mobilize volunteers, and develop sound community-wide strategies to create change on a scale no single individual or organization can do on their own.

Our collective efforts have achieved the following:

  • 44,000 more central Iowans are financially self-sufficient than four years prior.
  • 30,332 central Iowa students received free vision screenings through Vision to Learn since 2017, with 3,670 students receiving two free pairs of glasses.
  • 211 Iowa, an information and referral service provided in part by United Way of Central Iowa, was activated as the Iowa Department of Public Health COVID-19 hotline and as the Vaccine Navigators. Of the total 138,849 contacts 211 Iowa made in 2020, 72,734 were related to COVID-19. And more than 25,000 vaccination appointments were scheduled thanks to 211 and its service.
