Thanks to our strong and ongoing partnership with the South Central Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO (SCIFL), we recently had the joy of delivering union-made toys and birthday cards to five United Way-funded childcare centers. These weren’t just gifts; they were meaningful moments that celebrated the educators, families, and little learners who help shape a stronger, more vibrant community every day.
Participating Centers:
-
- Capitol Park Early Learning Center
- Families Forward Child Development Center
- Grand View Child Development Center
- Oak Academy
- Wonder Years Academy
Each center will distribute the toys and cards to children on their birthdays throughout the year, ensuring every child gets a special moment to feel celebrated. For some children, this may be the only birthday present they receive, making these gestures even more powerful and heartfelt.
This partnership is about more than giving; it’s about showing up. It’s about reminding children and educators that they are seen, valued, and supported by the community around them.
Whether it’s a toy that sparks creativity or a birthday card that makes a child feel special, these small gestures help foster a more connected and compassionate central Iowa.
We’re deeply grateful to SCIFL for standing with us in support of early learning and joyful childhoods:
