Book Buddy Empowers Preschoolers Through One-on-One Reading Support
Book Buddy pairs caring adult volunteers with preschoolers for regular, one-on-one reading sessions that boost pre-reading skills and confidence—paving the way for kindergarten readiness. With a curriculum developed in partnership with Des Moines Public Schools, volunteers guide children through engaging books and literacy activities. Weekly sessions create impactful learning moments, helping children in central Iowa build foundational skills, grow family literacy, and start kindergarten ready to learn.
