Tocqueville Society Chairs
"We’ve been shaped by the generosity and leadership of those who came before us, and now it’s our turn. We believe in the power of sharing your story, because that’s how change begins. When you speak from the heart about why this matters, you inspire others to do the same. That’s how we build a stronger central Iowa—together."
Tim (Holmes Murphy) & Jess (Wells Fargo) McCulloh
Tim and Jess have been contributing to United Way for 20 years. Tim began giving to Education Leadership Initiative (ELI) and Jess to Women United, and as their involvement deepened, they became Lead donors within those affinity groups. In 2013, they joined the Tocqueville Society, making their first Tocqueville-level gift in their early 30s—a powerful example of their dedication and generosity early on.
Both have always been deeply involved in their workplace campaigns, encouraging colleagues to give back. Prior to their role as Tocqueville Society Chairs, Tim served on the United Way Board and chaired the Volunteer Cabinet, while Jess has been active in several Women United leadership roles and led Women United through a successful restructuring and 20th Anniversary planning. Their commitment earned them the 2022 Tocqueville Society Award, honoring their enduring leadership and service to the central Iowa community.
Their philanthropy focuses on supporting kids from birth to age eight, inspired by firsthand experience seeing the vital role United Way plays in keeping childcare centers open in underserved neighborhoods.
Together, Tim and Jess are teaching their two daughters the importance of giving back by leading with heart and action.
We are proud to have Tim and Jess McCulloh as our 2025 Tocqueville Society Chairs, true champions of our community.
