Last Year's Impact Highlights:
Day of Action 2023
More than 450 volunteers gave their time to 20 organizations and completed more than 60 projects across the community as part of United Way of Central Iowa’s Day of Action, the largest day of volunteer service in the region.
“Day of Action is an important event for United Way of Central Iowa,” said Mary Sellers, President of United Way of Central Iowa: “Volunteering allows individuals to become more intimately aware of the challenges people in our community face. On Day of Action, it’s also a way for our company partners to encourage their employees to get engaged in addressing these challenges. Of course, the biggest benefit is for our nonprofit partners and local schools to receive the critical support they need.”
Projects ranged from reading with third grade students to beautifying nonprofit campuses to painting a homeless shelter, all impacting the UNITED to THRIVE strategic imperative for United Way of Central Iowa. Based on the hours volunteered, Day of Action generated more than $55,000 in economic impact for nonprofits.
