What is a Literacy Kit?

Literacy Kits are designed by a team of literacy experts to bring books to life for children, reinforcing literacy skills through fun activities.

Each Literacy Kit includes:

A carefully selected children’s book.
Interactive, imaginative activities related to the book.
Instructions for the volunteer or mentor on how to use the kit.
A personal note of encouragement from the kit-building volunteer to the child.

They can be used one-on-one or in small groups at schools, after-school programs, childcare centers, or even in the home, helping children expand their reading experience and build a home library.
