United Way of Central Iowa (UWCI) is now accepting nominations for its LIVE UNITED Awards, recognizing the impact organizations and individuals made in the central Iowa community over the past year through giving, advocating and volunteering. One organization will be honored with the Spirit of Central Iowa Award for significant efforts in all three areas.

“The LIVE UNITED Awards are United Way’s way of saying thank you to the organizations and individuals who generously give, advocate and volunteer in our community,” said Mary Sellers, President of UWCI. “These central Iowans drive our work in creating new opportunity and hope for everyone so that our community is a better place to live, learn, work, and play.”

Nominations for the awards are due by February 9. To apply, representatives can fill out a simple form by award category online at www.unitedwaydm.org/liveunited-nominations.

Winners will be recognized at the LIVE UNITED Luncheon on Monday, May 1, at Prairie Meadows. The following categories will be recognized:

  • Give – honoring three organizations for their dedication, innovation and success in participating in the 2016 United Way campaign.
  • Advocate – honoring three organizations and one individual for boldly and passionately championing causes in the areas of education, income and health.
  • Volunteer – honoring three organizations and one individual whose service and dedication to volunteerism in central Iowa is helping our community in areas of education, income and health.
