Hy-Vee Partners with 211 Iowa to Host COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for 3,500 People on April 3 (dose one) and April 24 (dose two) at Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines. Vaccinations available by appointment only through 211 Iowa.

Hy-Vee, Inc. is partnering with 211 Iowa to host a free community COVID-19 vaccination clinic for 3,500 area residents. This will be Hy-Vee’s largest COVID-19 community vaccination clinic to-date.

Recipients of the vaccine will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which requires two doses. The first dose clinic will be Saturday, April 3 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in downtown Des Moines. A clinic to administer second doses for vaccine recipients will be held on April 24 at the same time as their first dose appointment and at the same location.

Individuals who have barriers to scheduling a vaccine appointment or who are 65 and older, or 64 and younger with an underlying health condition as outlined by the CDC and are without internet access, can call 211 (or 1-800-244-7431) and a vaccine navigator can assist in scheduling a vaccination appointment during this clinic. 211 vaccine navigators are available 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by dialing 211 and selecting the vaccine prompt number 9. Translation services are available.

Masks are required. It is recommended (but not required) that vaccine recipients bring the following to their appointment:
  • insurance card (if they have insurance)
  • Medicare Part B red, white and blue card (if Medicare recipient); and
  • photo ID.
If individuals do not have insurance, they can still be vaccinated.

Free parking is available for vaccine recipients, and the convention center is located near a DART bus stop for those with limited transportation options. There is no cost for DART transportation to/from vaccine appointments, including this event.
