Writing a positive message to someone can improve more than their mood — it can change their outlook on life right now.

United Way of Central Iowa's Women United is committed to supporting the childcare providers in our community. Everyone has been impacted by COVID-19, but our childcare directors and educators are really feeling it right now. Show them how much you care and how much they matter by writing a note — or two or three — with some positive and uplifting words of encouragement.

United Way will share your messages with our 15 Women United childcare partners who are providing great care of our community's youngest central Iowans. These people need the time and positivity you have to give. They need your encouragement right now.

How to Volunteer for this Opportunity

Write a quick note to thank and encourage the childcare facility directors and educators in our community — your neighbors, friends, or maybe even your co-workers — who are caring children and keeping them - and themselves - safe. You can submit a note online using our virtual note form on this page until December 31.

Here are sample messages to help get you started:

  • You’re doing great work! Thank you for caring for our communities children and supporting their families.
  • Thank you for providing a safe environment for toddlers to learn and have fun! You are one in a million!
  • It's easy to feel alone during the pandemic, but know that even when our community can't be together in person, we are together in spirit. We are here with you.

Please avoid any specific religious references as recipients could be from diverse backgrounds. We welcome notes written in Spanish.
