What United Way Does
Who United Way Impacts
A GAME-CHANGER is a community leader who can bring together people from many different fields and perspectives to tackle a challenge from every direction.
A TRAIL-BLAZER has innovative ideas and is not afraid to take the lead when everyone else feels lost. Their creativity leads the community to implement new strategies.
Giving is not the only way to help improve central Iowa. You can also advocate and volunteer for United Way. Here are some other ways to stay involved in and keep up to date on United Way's work.
Read with a child

Last year, 98.2% of Power Read students improved in reading.
Commit to the OpportUNITY Plan—a realistic game plan of actions, big and small, that can bring financial stability and prosperity to the one-third of central Iowans who live in or near poverty.
Prepare taxes for struggling families
Volunteer to help prepare tax returns for middle- and low-income central Iowans. During the 2018 tax season, volunteers returned more than $8.9 million to the community.
