A United Way of Central Iowa OpportUNITY initiative helps ensure anyone 18 and under in our community continues to not only receive food, but nutritious food when they’re not in school.

Throughout the holiday season, people feel a stronger sense of family, community, and gratitude for where they live – especially when they live here in central Iowa. Naturally, many want to find ways that they can give back some of the good that they’ve received this year – and United Way is always here to help!

For seven years, Farm Bureau has cultivated one of the most consistent and successful Corporate Giving Garden in the central Iowa area. Involving around 70 employee volunteers, they create a space onsite not only for employees to give back to their community, but a chance for garden volunteers to connect with their colleagues.

With the 2021 Iowa Legislative session adjourned, United Way of Central Iowa sees big successes across our Legislative Priorities.

United Way of Central Iowa released its Legislative Agenda for the 2021 session of the Iowa General Assembly at a virtual event held yesterday for elected officials and members of the community.

The pandemic exposed us all to the isolation many LGBTQ+ people feel year-round.

Broadlawns Medical Center and United Way of Central Iowa are requesting donations of fabric face masks to support their Healthier Together – It’s a Win for All initiative. Make, purchase, or give to help get fabric face masks to our underserved populations. Your donation will help prevent the spread of COVID-19. 

The two organizations have selected United Way of Central Iowa as a recipient of 73,728 rolls of donated toilet paper. Food Bank of Iowa to help distribute throughout the state.

At today’s virtual LIVE UNITED celebration, United Way of Central Iowa announced progress toward the Community Goals for 2020 in Education, Income, and Health with the release of its 2020 Community Impact Report, along with honoring organizations and individuals with the annual LIVE UNITED Awards.
