2012 Day of Action- Thank you!

Over 1700 volunteers fanned across central Iowa September 12 for the annual United Way Day of Action.  Day of Action, held each September, is one of our community’s biggest single days of volunteer service.

This year’s signature projects were:

Dressers for Kids, in which 300 volunteers assembled 300 dressers to donate to the FreeStore, which in turn will give the dressers to children and families moving out of domestic violence shelters.

United Way Read Learn Succeed, which brought 600 volunteers into local schools to read a book and participate in a literacy activity with third graders.
