United Way VITA program helps 4,629 central Iowans with tax returns
Thanks to the efforts of 175 dedicated volunteers, United Way of Central Iowa’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) service filed 4,629 tax returns for lower-income central Iowans as of the April 15 federal deadline, a 32 percent increase over last year.

United Way raises record $26.5 million in 2012 campaign
The 2012 United Way of Central Iowa campaign raised $26,580,242, the highest total in the organization’s 95-year history. This is a nearly $1.5 million increase over the $25.1 million announced last year, and marks the second straight year United Way’s annual campaign reached a record for the community.
